FIELD: metal processing.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to plasma spraying in production of amorphous, ceramic, intermetallic materials and metal alloys. To produce ceramic material particles for formation of melt are introduced into plasma, the said particles containing at least 35 weight % of Al2O3 from the total weight of particles, and metal oxide other than Al2O3, and also, in the aggregate, not more than 10 weight % of As2O3, B2O3, GeO2, P2O5, SiO2,TeO2 and V2O5 from the total weight of particles. If metal oxide other than Al2O3, being ZrO2, particles additionally contain metal oxide other than Al2O3 and ZrO2. Melt is sprayed and cooled to produce the amorphous material containing at least 35 weight % of Al2O3 from the total weight of the amorphous material and metal oxide other than Al2O3. In the aggregate the amorphous material contains not more than 10 weight % of As2O3, B2O3, GeO2, P2O5, SiO2, TeO2 and V2O5 from the total weight of the amorphous material. The amorphous material has dimensions x, y and z in mutual perpendicular directions constituting at least 25 mcm each. If metal oxide other than Al2O3 being ZrO2, ceramic material additionally contains metal oxide other than Al2O3 and ZrO2, at least part of which, at cooling of melt, forms at least one clearly expressed crystal phase.

EFFECT: ceramic material possessing required characteristics such as hardness, strength and density.
