FIELD: information technology.
SUBSTANCE: according to proposed method, the element matrix of the dimensional light modulator (DLM) is uniformly highlighted with three different light beams of three main colours during the time of each frame. The light beams consequently generate light fluxes in the form of sequence from 2m+1-l light impulses, where m and l is, respectively, the number of high and low bits in every N=(m+1) bit signal, with their values corresponding to the required figure - G levels in a brightness displaying scale of each main colour calculated from the proportion G=2l·(2m-1), with 2m-1 light impulses generated with the same light energy QO and l light impulses with light energy Qi=QO·2-i, where i=1, 2, ..., l. The Kl≤2m-1 quantity of the light impulses with QO light energy are separated from the impulse light flux of the main colour in accordance with m-bit code of high bits of every N-bit signal by forming the first group from K1 impulse control signals. According to the quantity and combination of active low bit values of the same N-bit signal from similar light flux, the light impulses are additionally separated in amount of K2 equal to the amount of low bit active values of current N-bit signal, and with Ql light energy depending on index number i of low bits having active value, by generating the second group from K2≤1 of impulse control signals, with the first and the second groups impulse control signals advanced on the DLM element corresponding, in the current frame, to the current N-bit signal synchronously, in accordance with light impulses impacting it with the light energy QO and Qj, where j - index numbers of i low bits having active value.
EFFECT: simplified technical implementation due to decreased number of active control signal.
