SUBSTANCE: invention relates to motor industry, particularly, to retainers. Hood (10) retaining mechanism incorporates retainer arranged on the motor vehicle front panel and a retained element linked with hood (1) and arranged to interact with the retainer in "closed" state. The said retained element represents L-shape adjustable rod (2) coupled with the said hood. The said retainer represents rod (3) with a working hollow cylinder (4) arranged to travel lengthwise and/or run about its axis driven by a driving device placed in casing (5) attached to the motor vehicle front panel. End (6) of hollow cylinder (4) facing the retained element is truncated at an angle to its generating line.

EFFECT: reliable hood locking.
