FIELD: transport.
SUBSTANCE: device incorporates two DC series excitation traction motors, current controllers in excitation windings, remote-control contactors with contacts connecting the motors to the power supply, adjustable resistors, a diode to switch the motors from series over to parallel connection. The adjustable resistors are connected in series in between the first and second motor excitation winding and the power supply negative terminal. Two additional diodes are connected in between the armature winding and the first and second motor excitation winding. The third additional diode has its cathode connected to the first motor armature winding and anode connected to the power supply negative terminal. The fourth additional diode has its cathode connected to the second motor armature winding and its anode connected to the power supply negative terminal. The a diode to switch the motors from series over to parallel connection has its cathode connected to the second motor armature winding. Note that thyristors are used to switch the motors from series over to parallel connection.
EFFECT: higher reliability, lower operating costs, smaller braking distance.
