METHOD OF MELTING OF CARBONIC AND LOW ALLOYED GRADES OF STEEL Russian patent published in 2008 - IPC C21C5/52

Abstract RU 2336310 C2

FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to iron and steel metallurgy, particularly to methods of melting of carbonic and low alloyed grades of steel in super high-performance electric arc furnaces. The method includes charging, heating and melting of the main portion of charge in super high performance electric arc furnaces; at that charge contains light scrap and slag producing elements; further the method includes pouring of liquid pig-iron, adding of light scrap, performing of oxidising refining with supply of oxygen into the melt, frothing of slag, tapping of semiproduct out of a furnace, and finishing of melt on the assembly "ladle-furnace" relatively to temperature and chemical composition. Additionally heavy utilizable scrap of the in-house process is used in the composition of charge at the optimal ratio of: heavy scrap-liquid pig iron - 1:(1.0-2.0).

EFFECT: reducing melting time as well as consumption of materials and electric power and increasing technical and economic characteristics of steel plant.
