STEEL PRODUCTION METHOD AND LINE Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

Abstract RU 2092572 C1

FIELD: metallurgical industry. SUBSTANCE: this relates to production of superclean charge materials with lower content of impurities especially of nonferrous metals. Method implies production of partly reduced iron-containing oxidized material, its subsequent delivery to charge of electric-arc furnace, delivery of flux and reducer, melting of charge, final reduction of material and refining of melt, tapping and teeming of steel. Partly reduced iron-containing oxidized material is obtained in the form of conglomerate of oxidized iron-containing material and iron-carbon alloy with common degree of initial metallization being equal to 50-95%. It is delivered into electric-arc furnace in amount of 5-100% of iron-containing part of charge. Used as oxidized iron-containing material: oxidized pellets, iron ore, agglomerate, iron ore concentrate, scale. Used as iron-carbon alloy is cast iron or steel. Partly reduced iron-containing oxidized material is produced by pouring iron-carbon melt over oxidized iron-containing material with subsequent creation of conglomerate at crystallization. Steel production line is made up of following components installed in direction of technological process and interconnected by transportation links: unit for producing partly reduced iron-containing oxidized material, electric-arc furnace and steel teeming unit. Unit for producing partly reduced iron-containing oxidized material has conveyerized casting machine connected by system of pipelines with feed bins located above it for oxidized iron-containing material, and furnace for producing iron-carbon alloy. Aforesaid furnace is connected with conveyerized machine by transportation links. Used as furnace for producing iron-containing alloy is one of following: blast-furnace, cupola, induction furnace, electric-arc furnace. Used as transportation links between conveyerized casting machine and furnace for producing iron-containing alloy is system of troughs. Liquid melts are transported by railway cars between casting machine and furnace. In producing electrical-sheet steel with use of conglomerate in charging, output of product is sharply increased (up to 20 times). EFFECT: high efficiency. 8 cl, 8 tbl
