FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrical engineering, in particular to device protecting windmills against increased-speed air flows. The windmill incorporates a tower with a horizontal rotary platform supporting the electric generator and a wind turbine with vanes and a mechanical transmission of the said turbine shaft rotary motion to the electric generator shaft. The windmill includes also an electromagnetic device, an electrochemical accumulating battery and a control circuit allowing the electromagnetic device to lock the wind turbine and electric generator at increased air flow speeds exceeding specified tolerances. The windmill vanes are located so as to allow varying their angle in the flow, every vane being fitted into its hub with additional degrees of freedom of motion. The electromagnetic devices represent motors generating such thrust moments which ensure an optimum vane angles in the flow at tolerable wind speeds and, on the contrary, at excess wind speeds, they lock the vane in the position of minimum resistance to air flow.
EFFECT: higher efficiency of windmill.
