SUBSTANCE: invention is intended for in machine and instrument building industries and can be used as a drive in bicycles, invalid's carriage or motor car. The converter consists of flexible element (1), shaft (3) and pulleys (4). Shaft (3) incorporates two drums (2) or one solid drum. Flexible element (1) envelopes one of two drums (2) by several turns in one direction (2) or a part of the solid drum. Also it envelopes one or two pulleys (4) on one side of the drum and by several turns in the other direction the second drum or the other part of the solid drum and one or two pulleys of the drum other side where the flexible element ends are tensioned by a flexible member with an adjustable force. Shaft (3) supports actuator (6) for example a wheel. The drum or drums (2) act as friction clutch overrunning clutch or brake elements.
EFFECT: converter simpler design, longer life low-cost repair.
