FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in designing steam, hydraulic and pneumatic engines. According to invention proposed engine contains cylinders, pistons, synchronizer, motion converter with output shaft, and housing. Engine is made up of units containing group of pistons on rods which are connected with synchronizer. Synchronizer is made either in form of flexible train or in form of gears fitted on shafts interconnected by controllable clutch. One of shafts is connected by second end with shaft of motion converter by means of clutch. Motion converter is made by placing gears and two overrunning clutches on two shafts. Overrunning clutches and gears are enclosed by internal gear fitted on output shaft to which unidirectional motion is applied. Engine units can be arranged coaxially (in series) or in parallel with connection of their shafts by controllable clutch. Linear electric motor, dynamo-starter, plunger pump, compressor and noncontact ignition system can be mounted on piston rods.
EFFECT: provision of simple design, easy-to-manufacture internal combustion engine featuring high efficiency and small specific weight.
