FIELD: lighting.
SUBSTANCE: invention concerns light engineering and can be used for lighting of fountains in particular for liquid jet illumination. Liquid flow illuminator contains volume optical element made of optically transparent material and equipped with tubular hollow channel with inlet and outlet at least one light source mounted on one side of tubular channel within projected area of optical element to horizontal plane. Optical element is shaped providing light rays falling on liquid jet. Tubular hollow channel is designed as centre through channel passing through optical element with lower base close to inlet of tubular channel and side surface narrowed towards liquid flow with top adjoining outlet of tubular channel. Light source is close to lower base of optical element. Optical element is shaped providing profile points of its side surface within longitudinal reflecting light ray falling on side surface in considered point and radiated by source mounted in longitudinal plane under considered lateral side at angle providing specified light ray falling on liquid flow at angle of total internal reflection for liquid-air interface.
EFFECT: higher efficiency of liquid flow illumination providing ease of illuminator design.
