SUBSTANCE: invention concerns radio communication and can be applied in multiband wireless communication devices. System and method of heterodyne (HD) frequency generation in a receiver or transmitter with zero intermediate frequency (IF) are claimed. Method of HD frequency generation in multiband wireless communication device involves receiving first signal from voltage-controlled generator (VCG) with VCG frequency within first frequency band; division of the first signal frequency by programmed value N to obtain second signal with downconverted frequency, with programmed value N change partially based on master signal; and first signal is mixed with second signal to obtain output signal with HD frequency within the second frequency band determined by the first frequency band and programmed value N.

EFFECT: reduced heterodyne signal penetration allowing receiver or transmitter to operate in several radio communication modes and bands and to comply with relevant technical specifications.
