FIELD: agriculture, transportation.

SUBSTANCE: method of measuring milk in conveying channels of milking installations implies supplying milk flow through intermediary accumulating tank into measuring tank, the volume of the latter between upper and lower level sensors is equal to the unit of measurement. Filling and emptying of the measuring tank is controlled by the level sensors, quantity of milk transported through the measuring tank is measured according to the number of upper level sensor responses which are recorded by a totaliser in the units of measurement corresponding to the measuring tank volume. The measuring tank is additionally equipped with level sensors for quantising it into virtual measuring chambers, size and number of which are chosen according to the necessary value of the count low-order digit. The result of measurement is calculated by summing up two records, one of them is equal to the number of upper level sensor responses scaled by measuring tank volume, the other is equal to the serial number of the latest responded additional level sensor scaled by the virtual measuring chamber volume; quantity of additional level sensors is chosen so that to provide volume of virtual chamber being equal to 0.1 of the measuring tank volume.

EFFECT: increasing accuracy of measuring milk in milk installation conveying channels and operation speed of the measuring tank.
