FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: reagent di-(1,5-dimethyl-2-phenyl-4-pyrazolin-3-non-4-yl)decane quantitatively extracts mercury (II) ions when chloroform is used as an organic solvent in a wide concentration of HCl, equal to 0.1-2.5 mol/l. Unlike known homologues the reagent dissolves in kerosene with little heating. Mercury (II) can be extracted in kerosene with formation of a third liquid phase when concentration of HCl= 1.0-2.0 mol/l.

EFFECT: higher degree of absolute concentration of metal ions and possibility of substituting chloroform with a safer and more accessible diluting agent.
