FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: betatron electromagnet is related to accelerating equipment and may be used in development of betatrons that are intended for control of heavy-load transport means, containers and large-size items. Betatron electromagnet contains stands, yokes, poles with central inserts and multi-layer magnetising winding, which is arranged in the form of two sections that are symmetrically installed relative to middle plane of multipolar clearance; at that every section of winding is arranged as stepped, and steps of sections face the middle plane, and their number and number of turns in every step are selected so that turns of any step that are closest to the middle plane are distanced from this plane at the distance that is equal or more than the distance from the middle plane to the closet turn of i step.

EFFECT: reduction of dimensions and weight.
