FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: device consists of focusing optics, mixing plate, diaphragm, a source of reference radiation, photodetector, filter, subtracting unit, multiplier, unit for extracting the doubled root, detector, unit for comparing values of factors and determining αP, unit for determining the sign of αP, unit for controlling polarisation of the source of reference radiation, and a unit for determining αC. The mixing plate, diaphragm and the photodetector are connected in series in the path of the reference radiation from the source of the reference radiation. A valve, the focusing optics, mixing plate, diaphragm and photodetector are connected in series along the path of the analysed radiation.

EFFECT: increased accuracy of measuring the angle of the polarisation plane of optical radiation.
