FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: method of purification lies in running water through layer of granular charge until latter is contaminated, stopping filtration process, supplying air and/or washing water towards widening of granular charge layer until it is washed from contamination, mixing reagents and/or sorbents with washing water, supplying said mixture to widened layer of grain charge until its main part is filled with mixture, stopping supply of washing water and resuming filtration process. As sorbent supplied with pure washing water into granular charge layer before resuming filtration process, two-valent iron hydroxide flakes are used. Into water, which is to be purified, reagent - peptiser of said flakes is introduced, as such alkali or acid is used. It is suggested before supplying water medium to be purified into layer of granular charge, additionally, as oxidiser, to dissolve in it oxygen and/or introduce hydrogen peroxide.

EFFECT: increase of efficiency and reduction of water medium purification cost.
