FIELD: electricity.

SUBSTANCE: invention is attributed to method and system for detection of phase wire with unknown phase voltage in remote location (200) relative to reference phase voltage (R) in reference location (100) in electric power distribution system with one-phase or multiphase power main (L). The device comprises circuit (1, 3, 32) for signal (C1) transmission from reference location (100) to remote location (200), and the signal contains characteristical signal pattern (DEL). Additionally circuit is provided for detection of characteristical signal pattern (DEL) for signal (C1) in remote location and for determination of the first time interval (T1) between characteristical signal pattern and reference point (S+) appearance in unknown voltage. Circuit (2, 5 to 9) is provided for determination in the reference location (100) of the second time interval (T2) between characteristical signal pattern and reference point (R+) appearance in reference phase voltage R.

EFFECT: possibility to determine phase wire (S) with unknown phase voltage from the first time interval T1 and the second time interval T2.
