FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrical engineering and can be used in medium voltage alternating current drives, flexible transmission systems and high-voltage DC transmission systems. Multilevel converter includes single-phase configurations. Single-phase configuration has the first half-bridge (HB) module, the second HB module, separated by the first capacitor connected to the DC-line, and the module with fixed neutral (NPC) connected to the first HB module and the second HB module. Besides, single-phase configuration has first separate switching device and second separate switching device, wherein the first separate switching device is operatively connected to the first HB module and the NPC module and the second separate switching device is operatively connected to the second HB module and the NPC module. Converter further includes a power output unit comprising several phases and providing multi-phase variable (AC) power, wherein single-phase configuration supplies power to one of several phases of power output unit.
EFFECT: easier control of a multilevel converter.
