FIELD: physics; image processing.
SUBSTANCE: present invention pertains to methods of identifying products made from of sheet material with protective elements, in form of magnetic material fibres. The method of identifying a counterfeit protected object involves movement of sheet material with magnetic protective fibres by passing it through a magnetic field, registration of the amplitude of the response signal of the protective fibres, determination of the distribution function of the amplitudes of the response signals of the protective fibres and evaluation of the identity of the object through comparison of the distribution function of the amplitudes of the response signals of the fibres with preset values of the given function. Magnetic conductance of the protective fibres is also measured and its distribution function is determined. The object is identified through correlation of the distribution function of the amplitudes of the response signals of the protective fibres and the distribution function of magnetic conductance of the protective fibres with preset values of the respective functions. The device for identifying a counterfeit protected object comprises an apparatus for generating an alternating driving magnetic field, apparatus for picking up the response magnetic field, comprising a channel for registering the amplitude of the response signal of the protective element and apparatus for processing the obtained signal values. The apparatus for picking up signals also contains a channel for measuring magnetic conductance of protective fibres. The apparatus for processing the obtained signal values is in form of processor module for determining correlation of the differences between the distribution functions of the amplitudes of response signals and magnetic conductance of protective of protective fibres and preset values of the respective functions.
EFFECT: provision for checking identity of sheet materials and determining position coordinates of protective elements.
