SUBSTANCE: cover includes at least one guide member perpendicular to sheet feed direction for guiding at least one movable side member, which forms a travelling side guide for paper sheets, and numerous separate sliding bearing members (1). The bearing members (1) and at least one side member are installed in such a way that they can overlap a variable-width space. At least one side member and bearing members (1) are interconnected by means of at least one connecting piece (7), which is capable of applying a stretching force to the bearing members (1), when side member is moved towards the bigger width. A bearing member (1) has at least one tab (8) and one recess (9) with the tab (8) of one bearing member (1) entering the recess (9) of the adjacent bearing member (1).
EFFECT: simplified design of the pit cover.
