SUBSTANCE: invention concerns field of metallurgy and is intended for the analysis of a composition of metals. The expedient of definition of heterogeneity of metal and the device for its realisation (versions) are intended for express definition of the content of gaseous and firm impurities in melts of metals and alloys. Method includes recording of parametres of an interior acoustic emission of a crystallising melt of metal. And, before pouring of a melt of metal register spectrum Fourier of the noise acoustic emission of the included measuring block, then register Fourier spectrums in several frequency bands of an interior acoustic emission of crystallising metal, spot values of the net energy of harmonics of gained spectrums Fourier and spot the improved value of the net energy of harmonics of Fourier spectrum for each frequency band of the interior acoustic emission, voided from influence of energy of the noise signal. As the parametre characterising heterogeneity of metal, use the gained gang of the improved values of the net energies.

EFFECT: increase of accuracy of gaseous inserts determination and maintenance of measuring of content and sizes of firm inserts.
