FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention concerns method of alpha-olefin transformation into internal olefins at minimum skeletal isomerisation and dimerisation. Transformation of C16 and (or) C18 alpha-olefins into internal olefins involves passing C16 and (or) C18 alpha-olefins through layer of solid acid catalyst, silicon oxide-aluminium oxide, where weight ratio of silicon to aluminium in solid acid catalyst is 45:55 to 55:45, at sustained layer operation temperature of 70-140°C. Quantity of residual alpha-olefins in isomerised mix of internal olefins is under 10 wt %. Isomerised mix of internal olefins contains preferably under 25 wt % of C1 and C6-C8 isomers and optionally C9 isomer if C18 alpha-olefin is transformed, and residue is olefin C2-C5 isomers. Such mixes of isomerised internal olefins are particularly useful as compositions for paper sizing and drilling agent.
EFFECT: method of alpha-olefin transformation into internal olefins at minimal skeletal isomerisation and dimerisation.
