FIELD: mining.
SUBSTANCE: present invention pertains to mining and can be used for extinguishing rock refuse of coal deposits and coal washing, as well as spontaneous combustion prone minerals - coal, shale rock, peat, and pyritised ore. The method involves drilling holes into waste heaps, processing surroundings of combustion sources by pumping a lime suspension through holes in spaces between lumps in the waste heap, evacuation of the space between lumps in the waste heap and tapping off gases and vapours. The holes are drilled after every 5-7 m. The lime suspension is pumped into one in every two holes in the waste heap. The space between lumps in the waste heap is evacuated through other holes using fitted outlet deflectors, which are sprinkled with the lime suspension. The functions of the holes can be changed.
EFFECT: increased efficiency and reduced labour input for extinguishing burning waste heaps.
