SUBSTANCE: invention concerns to computer facilities field, namely to the graphical user interface (GUI). Technical effect is simplification of GUI guidance. The method of a mode selection of representation of files for windows of lists of files in operational system and adjusting parametres within this mode of representation of files for one or more devices of screen mapping contains stages, on which: gain single user input through the sliding control facility the input, specifying select of one of set of accessible modes of representation of files and also specifying select of adjusting parametre within the chosen mode of representation of files; simultaneously erect conformity of single user input to the chosen mode of representation of files, and to the chosen adjusting parametre within this mode.
EFFECT: simplification of GUI guidance.
