SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a system and method of displaying elements, and particularly to a system and method of filtering and organising elements based on common properties. System and method are proposed for filtering and organising elements, contained in memory devices, based on common properties. The system uses virtual folders including regular files and folders, in different forms, based on metadata of these elements, and not on the actual physical structure of the file system on the disk on which they are based. On the image, several elements are displayed and there is a filter region, in which the user can a enter filtration parametre. When the user enters a filtration parametre, the number of elements displayed on the image reduces to that, which contains the filtration parametre. As the user types the filtration parametre, more elements can be filtered upon addition of each new character into the filtration parametre.

EFFECT: more efficient filtration and organisation of elements in a computer system based on common properties.
