FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to iron and steel industry, particularly to methods of steel melting in arc electric steel melting furnaces. The method consists in melting steel by batches with supplying scrap metal and liquid iron into an arc electric steel melting furnace, in melting, in oxidising with gaseous oxygen, in melt tapping leaving slag and part of metal in the furnace, and in addition of deoxidisers and alloying additives into a ladle during release of solid slag forming mixture. Blasting steel with gaseous oxygen is carried out at rate of 80-120 nm3/h per ton of melted steel till contents of carbon in steel is not more, than by 0.05% lower of the lowest limit of its contents in finished steel. 0.5-4 minutes before tapping steel from the furnace blasting with oxygen is stopped and injection of carbon containing material is performed at consumption rate of 10-80 kg/min.
EFFECT: reduction of ferroalloys, alloying materials and gaseous oxygen consumption, and also upgraded resistance of furnace lining.
