FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to method of processing spodumene concentrates. The method includes activation of the concentrate, its sulphatisation with sulphuric acid at temperature 170÷200°C and leaching the product of sulphatisation with water. Produced pulp is neutralised with lime to pH 6.0-6.5 and separated into solution of lithium sulphate and non-solvent cake. Then washing of cake and drying it to a constant weight is performed. Further charge is prepared out of dried cake with lithium, potassium, sodium, and magnesium carbonates and with magnesium, titanium, zinc and trivalent chromium oxides and with cryolite; melting of prepared charge is carried out. After melting produced melt is tapped into a mould and cooled. Produced moulding is heat treated and glass ceramic is obtained.
EFFECT: reduced power consumption for sulphatisation of the concentrate, complex utilisation of the concentrate with extraction of lithium into sulphate solution and production of lithium glass ceramics.
