FIELD: water treatment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a mechanical impurities removing system, namely to removing big foreign bodies - boards, logs, plastic containers, rags etc. - from large effluent volumes. Method of stepwise removal of mechanical impurities from effluent water involves supplying effluent flow to a distribution chamber, its distribution into channels and further removal of mechanical impurities in the channels by fine screens and sand catchers. Large-sized mechanical impurities are removed from the effluent in a distribution chamber made as a bowl which is symmetrical in respect to the longitudinal symmetry axis and tapering downstream the treated effluent flow. Side wall of the tapering distribution chamber is fitted by openings with gates for further water treatment channels. Large-sized mechanical impurities are directed to the tapering part of the distribution chamber by barrier grids which are set prior to every gate or at least prior to the last gate on the distribution chamber side wall downstream the effluent flow. Large-sized mechanical impurities are off-loaded in the distribution chamber tapered part by off-loading grids which are set approximately perpendicular to the longitudinal symmetry axis of the distribution chamber after all openings with gates and barrier grids set prior to the gates or at least prior to the last gate on the distribution chamber side wall downstream the effluent flow. The barrier grids are cleaned by adjusting their mounting angle in respect to the supply flow direction or by pneumatic devices.

EFFECT: method ensures continuous treatment process due to preventing large-sized waste from getting to the channels meant for further removal of mechanical impurities from effluent water and thus it ensures longer service life of fine screens for fine treatment and of coarse screens which can be mounted in the water treatment channels prior to the fine screens if necessary.
