FIELD: heating.
SUBSTANCE: invention deals with design of cooling tower sprinklers; it is to be utilised to provide for process water evaporative cooling in circulation water supply systems and may be equally implemented in practically any branch of economy such as oil, gas and chemical industries and others. In addition to that the proposed device is to be utilised as a regular packing involved in absorption and rectification processes. The counterflow cooling tower sprinkler is composed of tiered vertically positioned sprinkler elements represented by four-blade augers rigidly interconnected to form packages. The package height is equal to the auger helix lead. Sprinkler elements of the cooling tower packages (tiers) that adjoin each other in terms of heights are positioned at an angle of 40°-50° relative to each other if regarded within the vertical plane. Within the horizontal plane sprinkler elements of the counterflow cooling tower packages that adjoin each other in terms of heights are offset relative to each other by a distance equal to 0.4-0.6 of the auger outer diameter.
EFFECT: improvement of heat and mass exchange efficiency due to contacting fluxes turbulisation combined with liquid film disruption within the sprinkler volume; enhancement of the sprinkler and the cooling tower space effectiveness.
