FIELD: physics, measurement.

SUBSTANCE: invention is related to the field of mediums optical density control and may be used to perform measurements of index of directed light attenuation by sea water in actual sea conditions. Device comprises measuring and compensating optical channels, and the latter is arranged in the form of light guide, source of modulated optical radiation in the form of light diode with electric modulator, photoelectric transducer, switch of channels, unit for generation of channels switching signal, narrow-band amplifier, amplitude detector and system for processing of measuring and compensating channels signals. Measuring channel consists of leak-tight transmitting and receiving lenses with illuminators that are installed coaxially at the distance equal to measuring base. Electric modulator is arranged in the form of functional current generator, and switch of optical channels consists of spring-loaded shutter with opening, which is connected to electromagnet anchor connected to unit for generation of channels switching signal. System for processing of measuring and compensating channels signals includes analog-digital transducer, indicator, and also microprocessor unit common with unit for generation of optical channels switching signal.

EFFECT: higher accuracy and stability of measurements.
