FIELD: weapons and ammunition.

SUBSTANCE: proposed splinter-in-beam shell for smooth-bore tank guns has a case containing explosive charge, a splinter unit, located in front of the charge and a base detonating fuse of the trajectory-contact type. The explosive charge is made from a plastisol compound, containing liquid plasticiser, spewing into it polyacrylic polymer, a high explosive agent and powdered combustible metal. The splinter unit and the explosive charge are in direct contact. The high explosive agent used is cyclonite or octogene. The powdered combustible metal used is aluminium.

EFFECT: reduced hazard of detonation.
