FIELD: physics, measurement.
SUBSTANCE: invention is related to the field of technical measurements made in machine building during manufacture and monitoring of openings size in machine parts. Method for indirect measurement of cylindrical opening diametre consists in the fact that measuring element of cylindrical shape and known size is inserted in measured hole, at that measuring element has rod of significant length installed parallel to its axis. In process of measurement, due to clearance between measured surface and surface of measuring element, rod is serially turned together with measuring element in extreme opposite positions, and distance is measured in one point most distanced from measurement section between these two extreme positions, and this distance and available mathematical dependency is used to determine sought for diametre.
EFFECT: provision of possibility to reduce measurement error down to required value.
