SUBSTANCE: there is disclosed powder water-absorbing reagent containing water-absorbing resin of cross-linked structure with a surface cross-linked by adding the surface processing reagent. Herewith: (i) average mass particle diametre (D50) is within 200 to 600 mcm, and the powder water-absorbing reagent 95 to 100 wt % related to the whole powder water-absorbing reagent 100 wt % contains the particles of diametre within the range 150 mcm to 850 mcm, (ii) standard logarithmic deviation (σζ) of particle size distributions is within 0.25 to 0.45, (iii) compression ratio calculated by the equation below lays within 0 to 18%, and (iv) surface tension of supernatant fluid derived 4 minutes after dispersing the powder water-absorbing reagent 0.5 g in physiologic saline 50 ml at temperature 20°C is 55 mn/m or more, compression ratio (%) = (%)=(P-A)/P×100, where P is a bulk density of the compact powder water-absorbing reagent, and A is its bulk density while granular.
EFFECT: powder water-absorbing reagent keeps the absorbed liquid more effectively.
