FIELD: laser engineering.

SUBSTANCE: method of producing high-precision cylindrical micro-lenses with various section profiles made from glass or plastics relates to optical, electronic industries and laser engineering, particularly, to micro-lenses, cylindrical micro-lenses including those with aspherical surface. The proposed invention can be used in developing the systems intended for constructing and transmitting images and light power as well as for data processing. The proposed method comprises forming a macro-workpiece, a preform, from starting material, its grinding and polishing to produced preset section shape and generating surface form. Then, the preform is heated to sweeten the material and drawn into the preset-size rod from which preset form and size micro-lenses are cut out.

EFFECT: simpler production process, lower material and labour inputs.
