SUBSTANCE: invention relates to small arms, namely, to automatic pistols. The proposed automatic pistol incorporates a damping spring and gear rack. Aforesaid spring shares one guide with recoil spring and features high rigidity, while aforesaid gear rack seats between the locking wedge and rear end of the said spring. The locking wedge lower part features a semicircular-toothed element. The muzzle stroke-to-gear rack stroke ratio does not exceed 1:3, while the muzzle travel prior to engagement with breechblock-to-that after disengagement from it does not exceed 1:2.

EFFECT: higher accuracy of hits, longer life and smaller weight.
