METHOD OF MEASURING HYDROACOUSTIC ANTENNA DIRECTIONAL CHARACTERISTIC FOR PROPAGATION OF MULTI-BEAM SIGNAL Russian patent published in 2009 - IPC G01R29/10

Abstract RU 2356060 C1

FIELD: physics, measurements.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to hydro acoustics and can be used for measuring directional characteristics of linear and flat compensated large-wavelength hydroacoustic antennas incorporated with the shore underwater observation stationary system receiving circuits in conditions of multi-beam signal propagation. In compliance with this invention, it is proposed to define the dependence of sound speed propagation upon the depth at the hydro acoustic antenna location. The acoustic signal beam structure and hydro acoustic antenna directional characteristics are determined proceeding from the data obtained and allowing for bottom relief between the preset sound radiation and reception points, as related to given signal beam structure. Allowance for sea bottom layered irregularity effect on sound propagation makes it possible to introduce adequate correction factors and reduce the measured directional characteristic of large wavelength hydro acoustic antenna to its directional characteristic in the field of flat wave propagating in uniform isotropic medium.

EFFECT: ruling out distortions of hydro acoustic antenna directional characteristic.
