METHOD OF NAVIGATION AND POSITIONING OF UNDERWATER OBJECTS IN DEEP-WATER CHANNEL AT LARGE DISTANCE AND SYSTEM FOR ITS IMPLEMENTATION Russian patent published in 2018 - IPC G01S3/80

Abstract RU 2674404 C1

FIELD: hydro acoustics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to underwater passive hydroacoustic navigation systems in the deep ocean at large distances from emitters and over large areas of water. For positioning underwater objects at large (500 km and more) distances from the coast in the open ocean, in the shelf (shallow) region of the ocean stationary (at the bottom or on the bottom platforms) place the emitters of navigation signals in such a way that the horizontal distances between adjacent emitters are comparable with the distances to underwater objects in the deep-sea part of the ocean. On the border of the shelf zone and the deep-sea part of the ocean or in the area of the oceanic dump, vertical acoustic receiving systems are permanently installed, which are designed to receive the calibration signal from the emitters and, in feedback mode, for the formation of acoustic navigation signals with specified parameters on the axis of the deep-water underwater sound channel for passive navigation and positioning of underwater objects. Invention is based on the definition and setting of optimal angular characteristics of the directivity and duration of the navigation and information signals and their focusing on the axis of the deep-water audio channel in the region of the continental ramp.

EFFECT: accuracy and reliability of measuring distances and underwater positioning of navigation objects at long ranges in the deep ocean, including for changing environmental conditions, improving the quality and stability of the characteristics of the navigation / communication / control signals, reducing and optimizing the radiation power and increasing the efficiency of the emitters of the ranging and / or navigation systems.
