METHOD OF DETERMINING TRAJECTORY OF BORE HOLE Russian patent published in 2009 - IPC E21B47/22 G01V1/42

Abstract RU 2357078 C2

FIELD: physics, measurement.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of well surveying and can be used during the determination of spatial coordinates of a well bottom in the process of drilling, and also drilled inclines and horizontal wells. To determine the trajectory of the bore hole, the signal from the vibration source is received on the surface of the sensors, located at least on two non parallel straight lines. On the registered signal from the drilling instrument based on the mutual correlation function a scan for temporary signal displacement between signals of one of the sensors on one of the straight lines, which is considered as the supporting one, with all the signals from other sensors of the same line. At least two sensors determine the arrival time of the waves of elastic vibration at which equally, using coordinates of these sensors are determined the coordinates of the mid point of the straight line connecting the sensors, and then it's built perpendicularly to the middle of this section. Similarly a pair of sensors is found which have an equal arrival time of the waves of elastic vibration, on the second straight line and then second connecting perpendicular is built in middle of the section. The point of intersection of this perpendicular with the earlier built perpendicular is found, and the coordinates become the projections of the well bottom on the surface. During measurement of subsequent points all the above procedures are repeated.

EFFECT: increase in the accuracy of determining the trajectory of drilled bore holes or spatial coordinates of a well bottom in the process of drilling based on the fact that the initial data is determined not by the arrival time of the signal to each of the sensors, but by the temporary displacement between the registered signals.
