FIELD: physics; radio.

SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to radar and can be used in positioning antennae of a monopulse system. According to the method of positioning an antenna of a monopulse system, two optical devices are mounted near the antenna, rigidly joined to the plane of the antenna, the optical axes of which are parallel the mechanical axis of the antenna. The line of sight of optical device is directed on corresponding geodesic marks, located together with an auxiliary antenna on a shield, fitted on a tower. The angular position of the electrical axis of the positioned antenna relative the line of sight is determined. The electrical axis of the auxiliary antenna is directed perpendicular the plane of the shield and a video camera is mounted on the shield, the optical axis of which is parallel the electrical axis of the auxiliary antenna. An extra geodesic mark is placed near the positioned antenna, corresponding to the position of the video camera. The optical axis of the video camera is directed on the corresponding geodesic mark. Using the positioned antenna, angular coordinates of the phase centre of the auxiliary antenna are measured and the misalignment value is determined.

EFFECT: increasing accuracy of positioning due to single location of the phase centre of the auxiliary antenna through direction of the electrical axis of the auxiliary antenna at the centre of opening of the positioned antenna using the video camera.
