FIELD: radio engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radio engineering and to digital instrumentation and may be used to define type and rate of phased signal modulation (PM) and their further modulation. According to the invention, method and device to define type of modulation is based on digitisation of intermediate frequency signal, digitised signal transfer to the zero frequency, digitiszed signal squaring, raising to a fourth and eighth power. After that the responses results are compared with a reference, and decision is made on the modulation rate based on response results.

EFFECT: simplified method and device to define type of modulation and wide functional possibilities.
