FIELD: computer engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to special-purpose computer equipment and can be used in systems in which there is need for hardware implementation of digital signal filtering algorithms. The device contains N input signal delay elements, connected in series, N modules for sorting and storing readings, each of which consists of a bus commutator, two comparators, register and combinational circuit, meant for controlling data transfer between modules, based on logic processing of results of comparing input code signals and control signals from two neighbouring modules.

EFFECT: faster operation of the median filter with any odd length of an aperture based on modular architecture, which allows for calculating the median on each operation cycle of the circuit.
