FIELD: mechanical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to mechanical engineering and machine tool industry and may be used for grinding machines automation. Control method includes duty cycle of grinding and step of detail end-process gaging. During grinding cycle, detail form error, grinding cycle time and terminal velocity of allowance removal at the moment of detail treatment termination is determined. In this process control action vector value which has been set according to overall average prior information is successively corrected with respect to minimum time of grinding cycle and detail form error and then - with respect to minimum of terminal velocity dispersion of allowance removal and its mathematical expectation. Parametre identification is made on the basis of statistical estimation of detail quality index in the step of end-process gaging. The device contains main (1) and additional (2) control loops. The main loop (1) contains size sensors (3), axial orientation sensors (4) and output coordinate control sensor (5). Additional loop (2) contains size (16) and roughness (17) inspection sensors.
