FIELD: technological processes, metal working.
SUBSTANCE: invention is related to metal plastic working and may be used to manufacture products from lengthy billets with relative length of extruded part that exceeds the length permissible under condition of longitudinal stability. Area of extruded part of billet adjacent to clamping part of split matrix is heated up to maximum forging temperature. This area has relative length, which does not exceed length permissible as per condition of longitudinal stability. Moreover, heating is provided for end section of extruded part by means of heat transfer until minimum forging temperature is obtained on its end surface. Billet is installed in clamping part of split matrix with installation of deforming puncheon and end section of billet extruded part in movable guide bush. Bush is aligned with split matrix. Then edging is carried out by free upset, and product is shaped in single stage.
EFFECT: improved quality of manufactured products and efficiency of their manufacturing process.
