FIELD: mechanical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to mechanical engineering and may be used in agriculture, for destruction of ice formations on pavements and motor roads in winter, in earthworks during construction. Roller of percussion action includes longitudinal axis of roller rotation, plane of symmetry perpendicular to longitudinal axis of rotation and roller surface formed by hollow tube ends placed along spiral together with device fitted in each of tube ends. The device contains working element acting on ground which element is made capable of limited linear movement. All hollow tubes are rigidly interconnected with angular shift relative to each other. There is hammer inside each tube, and hollow tube itself and hammer fitted in it are made with possibility to fix the hammer temporarily in each of the tube ends for lifting the hammer during roller motion, with possibility to unfix the hammer in upper position and let it move down inside the tube.

EFFECT: reduction of roller weight and improvement of its effectiveness due to employment of striking energy.
