FIELD: information technology.

SUBSTANCE: method is described for controlling a certain amount of data from a transmitting peer to a receiving peer with a predefined communication protocol. For this purpose the said method involves stages on which the said amount of data is divided into several data segments, where the data segments are arranged into a sequence. These segments are transmitted to the receiving peer in order of the said sequence. The receiving peer confirms correct reception of the data segments and indicates the last correctly received data segment of the sequence, which was received in the correct order of the sequence. The transmitting peer is set up such that, it retransmits if a threshold number of double confirmations is received. The threshold number which initiates retransmission is an adaptive parametre, determined by the size of the reception window, where the size of the reception window is a number of data segments, which can be stored in the buffer space of the receiving peer.

EFFECT: improved operation through retransmission of segments in the transmitting peer.
