FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: friction factor between rolled metal and rollers of rolling mill is evaluated by means of rolling wedge-shaped samples under laboratory and process conditions and setting process parametres for hot rolling for primary and plate mills. Upgraded accuracy of evaluation is facilitated like follows: two wedge-shaped samples are rolled till skidding; also samples have different wedging (φ1 and φ2 (φ - angle between plane of symmetry and inclined facet of the sample); by measurements there is established maximum reached clamping Δh1, and Δh2; friction factor is calculated on base of these parametres. The angle of wedging of samples is chosen from condition [α3]>φ12, where [α3] is reference value of angle of contact at the moment of the stock front end seizure for investigated conditions of rolling.

EFFECT: upgraded accuracy of friction factor at rolling using method of ultimate clamping.
