FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metal forming and can be used in production of stepped rod-like products with head, for example bolts, screws and rivets. Stock produced from hot-rolled metal by drawing or gauging is used to make stepped rod. Original stock is produced with crosswise size smaller than maximum crosswise size of rod stage of smaller crosswise size. Rod stage of smaller crosswise size is produced by upsetting in stepped rod forming. Total degree of hot-rolled metal deformation in drawing or gauging and total degree of upsetting in crosswise direction of rod stage of smaller crosswise size is taken not exceeding 40%.
EFFECT: expanded performances, higher strength of tools.
