AUTOMATED SPRING PRODUCTION LINE Russian patent published in 2009 - IPC C21D9/02 B21F3/00

Abstract RU 2370549 C2

FIELD: machine building.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to machine building and can be used in production of freight car spring supports of reduced or normalised hardenability. Proposed line comprises induction heater, rotary system to pull workpiece ends off, temperature control device, spring coiler, quenching unit, tempering furnace, spring squeezer, grinding unit and transfer means. Note that proposed line comprises reserve spring accumulation plants and equipment designed to control spring height and measure its hardness. Transfer means arranged ahead of and behind the spring squeezer and behind the quenching unit represent manipulators intended for accurate fixation of workpiece and spring. Aforesaid quenching unit represents coaxially arranged sprayers to cool springs by water flow forced at 0.2 to 0.3 MPa at flow rate of 5 to 10 m/s. Note that tempering furnace is installed directly behind quenching unit and features operating temperature of 180 to 200°C to produce springs with hardened layer. The latter has 0.15 to 0.25 dsp-deep martensite microstructure with compressing strains of 300 to 500 MPa, where dsp is the spring rod diametre.

EFFECT: higher quality of springs, simpler design.
