FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to applied physics and can be used in a device for generating current in underground or similar current distributors (cables, pipelines and other insulated conductors), during direct connection to said current distributors or through an inductor coil. The signal generator contains a signal conditioner (1), clock-signal generator (2), first (3) and second (4) pulse modulators, circuit for generating signals for controlling the output cascade (5), output cascade (6), containing first temperature sensor, low-pass filters (7 and 8), sensor unit (9), comprising voltage limitation sensor (14), operating current sensor with a band-pass filter (15), first current overload sensor (12) and surge voltage protector circuit (11), resistor, power supply (20), containing second temperature sensor, fan (21), display and control unit (16), comprising "current selection" switch (19), display unit (18) and microprocessor (17). The technical outcome of the invention is achieved due to use of a second current overload sensor (10) and a decision circuit (13) in the circuit of the signal generator, which provide for protection of the output cascade of the signal generator from ground short circuit.
EFFECT: higher operational reliability of the signal generator.
