FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrochemistry, and more specifically to an electrochemical method of producing niobium methylate, which is the starting material for producing highly-pure niobium (V) oxide, which can be used in radio electronics. The method involves anodic dissolution of niobium metal in methanol, containing background electrolyte - chloride of alkali metal, in an electrolysis cell with horizontal electrodes, where the cathode lies above the anode. At the end of the process the catholyte and anolyte are mixed, and niobium methylate is separated from the solution. An electrolysis cell without division of electrode space is used. After completion of the process, the background electrolyte is also separated from the solution.
EFFECT: possibility of obtaining niobium methylate with quantitative yield, with concentration in solution in the range 1,3 mol/l.
